An incident occurred to the Massey Ferguson model 6455 tractor which maintains council lawn areas in the Port Macquarie area where a steel bar lodged itself into the oil filter of a high output Perkins 1104D-E44T 4 cylinder turbocharged electronic controlled common rail engine.
The internal service technicians and the local mechanics found the engine difficult to repair so they removed the engine from the tractor and sent it to EIP Diesel’s service department for diagnosis and repairs.
EIP Diesel found damage throughout the engine resulting in a replacement being required. At this time a replacement was not readily available and came at high costs.
EIP Diesel Service department was able to diagnose items for repair and servicing to the specification of Perkins engine standards. Many new genuine Perkins items where installed including a new crankshaft kit, connecting rods and piston assemblies. The engine ECU was remapped to accommodate the new common rail injectors. The cylinder head was serviced to Perkins specification at a (state of the art) cylinder head service facility. Using our broad network EIP Diesel were able to repair or source replacement items for the customer’s requirements.
As the timeframe was important to the customer EIP Diesel was commissioned to complete the rebuild of the engine. On completion of the engine rebuild the local mechanics installed the engine and EIP Diesel supplied a service technician to site at Port Macquarie to commission the engine in the application using the latest service tooling and training.
All genuine parts were requested by the customer including filters as per the OEM Massey Ferguson which EIP Diesel were more than happy to install for the customer.
EIP Diesel completed the engine by painting it using genuine Massey Ferguson paint to bring the unit up to a new standard for appearance and corrosion prevention.
